Behind every successful exam series, is a dedicated group of Centre Inspectors and we are looking for people across the UK to join them in this unique opportunity. Centre Inspectors, on behalf of the JCQ Awarding Bodies, undertake visits to check that centres are administering exams in line with relevant examination rules, thus ensuring that students across the country receive fair and equal examination conditions. Working with our JCQ Partners, AQA is responsible for bringing in and training Inspectors to work across the country every year. You would have the chance to work flexibly and give something back to your local area, whilst being reimbursed for your time and travel. As an Inspector your key duties when visiting centres will be to: ensure the integrity of the examination process by checking that JCQ regulations are being applied consistently provide general advice and guidance, where necessary, to centre staff during visits provide written feedback to both the centre and the JCQ Centre Inspection Service team on a centre’s compliance with JCQ regulations Your work allocation as an Inspectors will be: inspections from April to November, inclusive of training; with the peak of visits happening from May to June to visit 2 centres per half day during the exam series; which amounts to a full day visiting between 50-80 centres, within reasonable travelling distance of your home It is crucial that as an Inspector you: have recent previous experience of the examination process; either within a centre as Examinations Officer, Deputy Head, Head, or equivalent relevant experience within an Awarding Body do not have any other work commitments which might impact on your availability or cause any conflict of interest during the inspection process – you cannot be currently employed as an Exams Officer can communicate effectively and work calmly under pressure have a full driving licence (this may be waived for Central London) have access to a private PC with broadband internet Being an Inspector can benefit you by: having expected earnings of between £1500-4000 a year (payment is made in accordance with a schedule of fees) giving an opportunity to share your expertise and experience providing a flexible role within the education sector If you, like us, see being a Centre Inspector as a worthy role that you would like to undertake, then we would welcome an application. We are looking for Inspectors in the following areas: London, Kent, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Birmingham, Middlesex, North Yorkshire, County Durham, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Norfolk & Staffordshire. However, if there is no allocation in your area we will keep a successful application for 18 months for future consideration.
