Here at Precision AQ we are building a Data Hub, a centralized platform team, to be responsible for consolidating legacy data infrastructure, establishing enterprise data foundation and governance and enabling AI/ML capabilities across the organization. The Data Hub is moving from strategy to execution. We have a charter, a roadmap, executive sponsorship, and a clear mandate: consolidate fragmented data pipelines into a governed, scalable platform that serves multiple business units and product lines. We are now hiring an engineering leader who can build and run the team.

Job Summary

  • Stand up and scale a high-performing engineering team
  • Own day-to-day engineering operations: sprint delivery, technical quality, capacity planning
  • Be the primary escalation point for technical blockers, cross-team dependencies and delivery risks
  • Partner with the SVP on hiring, team development, vendor relationships and strategic planning

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Team Leadership: Build, lead, and develop a team of data engineers, analytics engineers, and platform engineers. Set expectations, run 1:1s, manage performance, and create an environment where strong engineers want to stay and grow. You are accountable for the team’s output, quality, and morale.
  • Sprint Delivery and Capacity Management: Own the engineering delivery cadence. Run sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives. Manage capacity across concurrent workstreams (platform build, migrations, feature development). Ensure commitments are realistic and met.
  • Technical Design and Architecture: Lead technical design reviews and architectural decisions. Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with our medallion data architecture. You don’t need to design everything yourself, but you need to ensure designs are sound before they go to production.
  • Engineering Quality and Standards: Establish and enforce engineering practices: such as code review, branching strategy, CI/CD, testing, documentation, incident management. Partner with SVP on Hiring and Onboarding.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the engineering interface to Insights Hub, Evidence Solutions, Product Solutions, and IT. Translate business requirements into technical scope. Manage dependencies with Corporate IT, Security, and external vendors. Escalate blockers early and clearly.
  • Platform Operations and Reliability: Ensure production systems meet SLAs. Establish monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes.

Education and Experience

  • 5/8+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform engineering roles
  • 3+ years leading engineering teams (hiring, performance management, delivery accountability)
  • Direct experience with modern data stack: cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred), transformation frameworks, orchestration tools
  • Track record of delivering complex data platform initiatives, such as migrations, consolidations, greenfield builds
  • Experience operating in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments
  • Be able to review code, debug production issues and make sound architectural judgements.

This Hands‑On Leadership Role Is For You If

  • You’ve built and scaled engineering teams and enjoyed it
  • You’re energized by the challenge of consolidating legacy systems into something better
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and can make progress without perfect information
  • You care about engineering craft: clean code, good tests, clear documentation
  • You want to be close to the work
  • You can balance delivery pressure with sustainable team health
  • You’re excited by the opportunity to shape a function, not just manage one
