We are seeking an experienced and highly organised CQC Registered Manager to lead our regulatory compliance, operational governance and continuous quality improvement.

This is an important leadership position for someone who understands primary care, CQC requirements and the standards expected of a modern healthcare provider.

The Role

As CQC Registered Manager, you will hold responsibility for ensuring that APX GP operates safely, effectively and in accordance with all applicable CQC regulations, NHS requirements and internal policies.

You will work closely with the directors, clinicians and administrative team to maintain high standards of care, prepare the organisation for CQC assessments and develop a strong culture of accountability, learning and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the organisation’s Registered Manager and principal contact for the Care Quality Commission
  • Maintain compliance with the Health and Social Care Act, CQC Fundamental Standards and applicable regulations
  • Lead CQC registration, notifications, assessments and evidence preparation
  • Maintain an inspection-ready compliance framework
  • Develop, review and implement clinical and operational policies
  • Monitor patient safety, quality of care and service performance
  • Manage complaints, significant events, incidents and duty of candour requirements
  • Lead safeguarding arrangements for adults and children
  • Maintain effective infection prevention and control procedures
  • Oversee clinical audits, risk assessments and improvement plans
  • Ensure staff recruitment, DBS checks, training, supervision and competency records meet regulatory requirements
  • Monitor patient feedback and ensure concerns are investigated and addressed
  • Support information governance, confidentiality, data protection and NHS information-security compliance
  • Maintain accurate registers, records and regulatory evidence
  • Report regularly to the directors on compliance, risks and service performance
  • Build positive working relationships with the CQC, NHS commissioners, the local ICB and other stakeholders
  • Support the development and expansion of APX GP services

Person Specification

The successful candidate should have

  • Previous experience as a CQC Registered Manager, Practice Manager or senior healthcare manager
  • Strong experience within general practice, primary care or another regulated healthcare environment
  • Detailed knowledge of CQC regulations, Fundamental Standards and assessment requirements
  • Experience of preparing for and managing CQC inspections or assessments
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, clinical governance, infection control, complaints and incident management
  • Experience of developing policies, audits, risk assessments and quality-improvement plans
  • Strong leadership, communication and staff-management skills
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping abilities
  • Confidence working with clinicians, directors, regulators and commissioners
  • A relevant management or healthcare qualification is desirable
  • Current CQC registration, previous registration or clear eligibility to become a Registered Manager
  • The right to work in the United Kingdom
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check
