The Opportunity

You’ve built deep expertise in actuarial analysis, pricing, reserving, or portfolio profitability, and produced work that drives real business decisions. Now that expertise has a new application: shaping how frontier AI models reason through complex insurance problems.

What you'll do:

  • Design realistic actuarial and pricing tasks: rate adequacy studies, reserve reviews, profitability analyses, and pricing decisions without clean answers.
  • Write evaluation rubrics that reflect how experienced actuaries reason through assumptions, methodologies, uncertainty, and business impact.
  • Review AI-generated pricing models, reserve analyses, loss ratio studies, and profitability assessments, identifying where models make incorrect assumptions or apply inappropriate methodologies.
  • Build reference actuarial analyses and benchmark pricing materials that set the standard models, which are tested.
  • Communicate actuarial judgments, assumptions, and rationale clearly in writing.

How Engagements Work

Fully remote, part-time, and flexible. Work is scoped by project and ranges from short engagements to ongoing collaborations, structured as a contract or a monthly retainer.

You May Be A Good Fit If:

  • 5–8+ years in P&C actuarial pricing, reserving, or portfolio analytics at an insurer, reinsurer, consultancy, or brokerage.
  • You’ve owned pricing studies, reserve reviews, or profitability analyses that informed business decisions.
  • ACAS, FCAS, FIA, Fellow of the IFoA, or equivalent (preferred, not required).
  • You can explain the assumptions and judgment behind an actuarial estimate clearly enough to teach the reasoning, not just the outcome.

Compensation

$80–$200 per hour, aligned with expertise, scope, and impact; exceptional or highly specialised expertise can go higher. Ongoing engagements are typically structured as a monthly retainer rather than on an hourly basis.
