You will partner deeply with cross functional teams to design experiences that transform complex accounting logic into intuitive, trustworthy, and efficient tools. If you thrive on complexity, enjoy breaking down ambiguous systems into elegant designs, and are excited by the intersection of finance and product experience, this role is for you.
The Role
- Product Strategy & Discovery
- Lead design vision and execution for a new product area.
- Conduct user research with users and SMEs to uncover needs.
- Translate complex accounting requirements into usable product experiences.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to define scope, prioritize iterations, and influence strategy.
- Design Execution
- Own end‑to‑end design; from flows and wireframes to polished UI and functional prototypes.
- Create system‑level solutions that balance configurability, clarity, and accuracy.
- Design visualizations for revenue schedules, allocation models, contract structures, and period-based reporting.
- Ensure designs integrate well with the broader product ecosystem, patterns, and design system.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with SMEs to deeply understand domain requirements.
- Work with engineers to clarify edge cases, data models, and system constraints.
- Collaborate with the design team to contribute reusable patterns for financial workflows.
- Facilitate workshops, design reviews, and alignment sessions across teams.
- Quality & Outcomes
- Validate concepts through user testing, analytics, and iterative improvements.
- Ensure the product experience supports auditability, transparency, and compliance.
- Track and optimize metrics related to workflow efficiency, accuracy, and adoption.
- Maintain a high bar for product craftsmanship and interaction quality.
What We Offer

- ShareSave scheme - ability to purchase company shares on preferential terms.
- Private healthcare.
- Income protection and group life insurance.
- Pension Scheme.
- Company Funded Health Cashplan.
- Employee Assistance Programme.

- Flexible / hybrid working options.
- Enhanced Family Friendly Leave for adoption, maternity and paternity.
- Bike 2 Work Scheme.
- Employee Referral Bonus.
Where You’ll Be
This role is based from our London office and we support hybrid working. To us at Aptitude, hybrid working means that our employees come together for 2-days per week at their local office. It’s an opportunity for our teams to collaborate, solve problems together and to be engaged and involved in the wider community of our business. We ask employees to come into the office every Wednesday and give you the flexibility to choose your other day.
Job Requirements
- Strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, interaction design, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to distil complex, technical concepts into intuitive user experiences.
- Experience working on multi-step workflows, data modelling, or rule-based logic interfaces.
- Comfort collaborating with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in research methodologies, prototyping tools, and design collaboration practices.
- Ideally experience within complex systems (FinTech, SaaS, B2B platforms, ERP, financial software, or data-heavy tools).
- Bonus: Experience with accounting, billing, revenue recognition, payments, subscriptions, or financial reporting.
Why This Role Is Exciting
- You’ll shape a mission-critical pillar of our product with strong ownership and autonomy.
- You’ll solve deeply complex problems that directly impact customer operations and financial accuracy.
- You’ll work in a collaborative environment where design has a seat at the table.
