Aptia is a leading professional services firm dedicated to simplifying complexity for businesses and individuals. We bring together cutting‑edge technology and deep industry expertise to help organisations navigate an evolving landscape with clarity and confidence. With a presence in the US, UK, India, and Portugal, we support over six million people and more than 1,100 clients, delivering solutions that drive efficiency, enhance financial security, and provide peace of mind.
We have strengthened our capability by launching a new Consulting and Actuarial business within Aptia’s UK business. This has been enabled by the acquisition of Atkin Pensions, a specialist firm of consulting actuaries and administrators. This move is in direct response to what our clients have been asking for – a single, trusted partner that can deliver administration, actuarial expertise, and strategic consulting in one, cohesive service. By bringing Atkin Pensions into Aptia, we are now able to offer a fully integrated proposition for our clients.
Specialist. Responsive. Thoughtful. Our values aren’t just words; they are the backbone of our business. Our team embodies our values daily, to surpass client expectations, evolve constantly and nurture genuine relationships for the long‑term.
The Role: Due to the growth of our actuarial and consulting practice, we have a new opportunity for an experienced Pensions Administration professional to join the Atkin Pensions Administration team. We are open to the type of profile of this role – you may be a Senior Analyst with a strength in peer review and hands on administration, or at Team Manager level looking to take on responsibility for team operations and development. Either way, this individual will lead on quality service control, maintain standards, and take the lead on implementing best practice within the team.
You will support client relationships in terms of budgeting and process improvement and will also peer review complex tasks and coach junior colleagues in this area. The role will include development and training of junior team members. This role is a hybrid position, ideally commutable to Solihull, but we are open to other UK locations.
What you will be doing:
- Communicating with clients and scheme members on complex queries when required via letter, email, and telephone.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the scheme details administered in the team and ensure activities are processed in line with the scheme rules.
- Sign off on all admin related tasks, including on complex pensions calculations, enter pensions data and answer enquiries to the required standard using both automated and non‑automated manual/system processes across a wide range of member or scheme events.
- Sign off on pension increases, admin reports, annual benefit statements etc.
- Ensuring errors, omissions and complaints are handled in accordance with agreed procedures and within appropriate timescales.
- Monitoring project income and work with your manager to ensure client projects are delivered on plan and to budget.
- Identifying opportunities to generate additional revenue within your client group, ensuring requests for additional work are identified and costs calculated and confirmed.
- Keep abreast of technical developments, procedural and legislative changes, able to discuss and act upon the implications.
- Supporting key client relationships and client budgeting as well as peer reviewing complex tasks.
- Coaching junior members of the team on complex tasks or situations.
- Driving continual improvement around operational effectiveness and client profitability.
- Leading on process improvement for clients and undertaking quality control calculation reviews on the team’s work.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Experience within the pensions administration field, able to demonstrate experience improving processes, and a close understanding of complex pensions administration tasks and calculations.
- Able to take responsibility for the quality and delivery of own work, able to peer review and provide broader quality control as needed.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Able to analyse and improve processes.
- Organised and able to prioritise effectively.
- A team player, able to work with and coach others.
