Data Compliance Consultant

Location: Manchester Role Type: Contract - 3 months Work Setup: Remote (Travel to London a couple of times each year)

What you'll do

  • Provide practical data privacy advice and guidance across the business, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, GDPR, PECR and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct and support privacy assessments, including DPIAs, LIAs, TIAs, data mapping exercises and Records of Processing Activities (Ro PA) maintenance.
  • Identify privacy risks, perform compliance reviews, and recommend remediation actions to strengthen data protection controls.
  • Support Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), privacy complaints, incident management and breach reporting activities where required.
  • Deliver privacy training and awareness initiatives while supporting and mentoring junior team members.
  • Collaborate with legal, risk, technology and business stakeholders to improve privacy governance, respond to queries and implement regulatory changes.

What you bring

  • At least 2 years' experience in data privacy, data protection, compliance, legal advisory or a related field, ideally within a regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and wider privacy compliance requirements.
  • Hands‑on experience conducting DPIAs, LIAs, TIAs, data mapping exercises, Ro PA management and privacy risk assessments.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and deliver clear, practical advice to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills, with experience supporting privacy projects or workstreams.
  • CIPP/E or equivalent privacy certification is desirable, alongside exposure to privacy management tools (e. g.

One Trust, Decision Focus), AI governance, ISO 27001, NIST or DORA frameworks.
