About Nanopharm: Nanopharm is a fee‑for‑service contract research organization that assists clients in navigating the scientific, technical and regulatory challenges of developing nasal and respiratory drug products. Our integrated product development services cover advanced materials characterization, analytical method development, formulation development and testing, inhaled biopharmaceutics, device development and in‑silico modelling of in‑vivo behaviour.
Position Overview: Associate Manager, Pharmaceutical Development – reporting to the Manager, Pharmaceutical Development. Based in Cwmbran, the role involves leading a team of Senior Scientists and Pharmaceutical Analysts while providing scientific and technical leadership to project teams and external clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the team of Senior Scientists and Pharmaceutical Analysts, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation and personal development planning.
- Provide scientific and technical leadership to project teams and client engagements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for technical problem solving within Nanopharm.
- Organise and plan project activities, optimising the use of equipment, resources and skills to meet customer requirements.
- Ensure the scientific team is adequately trained and competent to perform assigned tasks, and support the development of SOPs.
- Supervise experimental work, ensuring scientific rigour and adherence to SOPs.
- Represent the team to the Head of Department, presenting project progress, successes and challenges.
- Manage and track workforce absences, ensuring timely approval and implementing return‑to‑work plans where needed.
- Create a work environment that promotes retention and a low turnover rate.
- Ensure on‑time completion of annual and periodic appraisals for direct reports.
- Act as an ambassador for Nanopharm and the wider Aptar group, participating in the scientific community and sharing best practices.
Key Qualifications:
- First degree in a science, pharmacy or related discipline (grade 2.1 or above).
- Experience in inhalation or respiratory product development or research.
- Proven track record of managing a team in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge and expertise within a specialist field.
- Flexibility to adapt to rapidly evolving workloads and perform calmly under pressure.
