APT Education is seeking a passionate EYFS Teaching Assistant with SEN experience to join a supportive primary school in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), working with pupils who have a range of special educational needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), non‑verbal communication, EAL (English as an Additional Language), and personal care requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to EYFS pupils with SEN needs, ensuring inclusive access to early learning
- Assist with personal care routines, communication strategies, and social development
- Adapt EYFS resources and activities to meet individual learning requirements
- Support non‑verbal and EAL learners with communication and inclusion
- Promote positive behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to track pupil progress
Candidate Requirements
- Experience working with challenging behaviour is essential
- GCSEs in English and Maths are essential
- Proven experience supporting pupils with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and EAL
- Strong understanding of EYFS curriculum and early childhood development
- Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach to working with young children
- Enhanced DBS and references (APT Education will support with compliance)
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils of early years age and helping them thrive
