My client are looking for a Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to join a mission-driven team focused on pioneering immunotherapy. This company has developed a unique approach to treating solid tumors that are resistant to current treatments. With significant funding raised and clinical trials on the horizon, we’re looking for a leader to help drive the next phase of development.
The Chief Scientific Officer will play a key role in shaping R&D strategy, closely with the CMO and CTO, to help transition their lead programs from preclinical through to the clinic.
Responsibilities:
- Under the direct supervision of the CEO and in close collaboration with the CMO, the Chief Scientific Officer and the R&D team will be accountable for the design and execution of the discovery and preclinical research strategy
- Closely working with CMO and CTO
- Building the company’s understanding of cell biology
- Structuring and managing non-clinical operations
- Overseeing the production of original peer-reviewed publications
- Implementing the IP strategy of the company
- Setting up and managing academic collaborations
- Maintaining a detailed awareness of relevant immunology research activities worldwide
- Supervising the technical development of cell therapies in all the pre-clinical stages:
• Overseeing the design and execution of IND-enabling packages
• Overseeing analytical interactions with external CROs, CDMOs, consultants and collaborators to ensure analytical assay development, manufacturability assessment, CMC, etc
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. degree in immunology / cell biology or a related field with a postdoctoral fellowship
- More than 10 years of drug discovery and development experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry from idea inception to preclinical development for solid tumors and hematological malignancies
- Has transitioned cell therapies in oncology from preclinical stage to clinical trials
- Superior technical know-how and broad scientific knowledge in the fields of immunology, oncology and I/O. Demonstrated record of scientific achievement through peer-reviewed publications
- In-depth knowledge of tumor biology mechanisms, ex vivo and in vivo tumor models, tumor biobanks, biomarkers, and pre-clinical studies design
- Has developed translational research plans to support clinical trials
- Significant experience in process & analytical assay development settings
