We\\\βre working with a leading technology business in East Sussex looking for a Service Engineer to join their Field Service team. This is a full-time, hands-on role focused on supporting, installing, and maintaining highly specialised scientific equipment used across the UK and internationally.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a mechanical or electrical engineering background who enjoys problem-solving, working with customers, and travelling as part of their job. Over 50% of the role involves travel across the UK and regularly overseas; EU, non EU, Russia, Far East, Middle East and USA. You must be able to travel freely to these countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and service scientific instruments both on-site and in the field.
- Provide remote technical support via phone and email.
- Install Cryo Transfer systems and train customers in their use.
- Liaise with customers and internal teams to coordinate logistics and escalate issues.
- Promote service parts and maintenance contracts.
- Maintain detailed service records and support performance tracking.
- Occasionally support product testing and assembly.
Required Skills & Experience
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong hands-on ability with tools, wiring, soldering, and diagnostics.
- Experience interpreting engineering and circuit diagrams.
- Comfortable using test equipment (multimeters, micrometers, etc.).
- Excellent customer communication and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence
- Valid passport required; Travel to EU, non EU, Russia, Far East, Middle East and USA. You must be able to travel freely to these countries.
