Based in Sheffield, our client is a leading provider of safety and automation solutions for the transportation industry. With around 20 employees, they offer a collaborative, people-focused and environmentally conscious culture. The Engineering Manager will lead and develop the engineering function, providing strategic direction and overseeing the delivery of complex safety-critical solutions. Working closely with new product development, the role will shape innovation, drive change management, and implement best-practice processes to support long-term business growth.
Essential Requirements
- Proven people and relationship management skills, with experience leading and developing a multidisciplinary engineering team (approx. 4 staff across project management, design and software support).
- Strong technical background in electronics, avionics or communications engineering, with working knowledge of electronics and PCBs, including managing obsolescence and product upgrade cycles.
- Experience leading change in a growing organisation, implementing processes, collaborating with operations, installation and aftermarket teams, and embedding best practice.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in highly regulated or safety-critical environments (e.g. SIL, functional safety, IEC 61508), such as Rail or Oil.
