As the Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring the correct materials are ordered and delivered in line with production schedules. You will manage supplier order books end-to-end, ensuring they support production, business, and inventory plans, while also monitoring and driving supplier performance to meet agreed targets.
Responsible for the end-to-end management of the order book process for assigned categories and suppliers, including but not limited to:
- Using the ERP system to release and manage purchase orders in line with demand plans
- Managing and actioning call-off and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) orders
- Ensuring all purchase orders are acknowledged within required timeframes and proactively expediting late deliveries with underperforming suppliers
- Actioning order movement and cancellation messages in a timely manner to maintain supply continuity
- Maintaining accurate open order book alignment between supplier schedules and the ERP system, while supporting level loading of purchase order receipts where possible
- Ensuring all ERP parameters that impact MRP are accurately maintained, including lead times, MOQ, Min/Max levels, safety stock, and supplier scheduling settings
- Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships to ensure clear, efficient, and proactive communication across all order book activities
- Representing the business in supplier meetings, including occasional travel to supplier sites where required
