Mechanical Design Engineer in Bedford

Specialist designer and manufacturer developing sub-systems and components across RF, communications & opto-electronics used in high reliability applications across the space, aerospace, defence and oil & gas sectors are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer.

Mechanical design role, full design lifecycle from the requirements, to prototype to production working on cutting edge, customer facing projects covering RF and opto-mechanical systems for defence, aerospace and industrial clients.

You will run thermal simulations and design enclosures for PCBs and complex electronics.

Essential Requirements of the Mechanical Design Engineer

• Mechanical design / mechanical engineering / technical science related qualification
• Mechanical design of Electronics / PCB electromechanical packaging / casings / enclosures
• Some experience of heat transfer / thermal simulation using the thermal tool on CAD packages like Creo, SolidWorks etc
• Able to secure SC security clearance
• Willing to be on site in the office for 3 days per week

Desirable Requirements of the Mechanical Design Engineer

• 2D & 3D CAD skills with Creo but Solid Works, Solid Edge or Inventor
• Any experience with Optomechanics / opto-mechanical engineering / the integration of optical components
• Aerospace or Defence industry experience
• Analysis for stress and vibration – able to use the tools to analyse the effects of putting weight on chassis etc
• Design experience with Aluminium
