The Opportunity

We are seeking an elite, highly independent Sales Director to drive our commercial expansion across the UK and Europe. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), you will act as a senior individual contributor being Varaha’s first sales hire in London and a highly effective closer. Your initial mandate will focus on rapidly scaling our successful biochar portfolio directly to corporate buyers. This is the most promising near-term pathway of durable carbon removal and we can build on our contracts with Microsoft and Google in this category. Over time, you will expand your scope to secure multi-year offtake agreements across our broader portfolio (industrial biochar, regenerative agriculture, afforestation, and enhanced rock weathering) for both the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) and corporate insetting.

We are deeply committed to building a sales engine that maximises your client-facing time. As a founding sales team member, you can bypass outdated software and build directly on AI-led workflows. We highly prefer an AI-fluent sales professional who can use these tools to multiply their output, freeing up your time to focus on what matters: navigating C-Suite conversations, structuring long-term agreements, and driving revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-Cycle Enterprise Sales: Drive end-to-end sales cycles for deal sizes ranging from hundreds to hundreds of thousands of tons.
  • CSO & Executive Navigation: Act as the face of Varaha's high-trust brand to Chief Sustainability Officers and corporate leaders, managing complex, consultative sales processes without being overly transactional.
  • Maximise Client Face Time: Leverage our evolving, AI-first Revenue Operations engine to focus on closing, while maintaining the high-agency resourcefulness to drive your own outbound execution and build pipeline from the ground up when needed.
  • Long-Term Partner Positioning: Position Varaha as the preferred long-term partner for carbon buyers, leveraging our massive scale, profitability, and premium backing to come out ahead of ongoing industry consolidation.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of high-performing B2B enterprise sales experience.
  • Startup DNA: Working experience in a high-growth startup environment is a must. You are fiercely independent, exceptionally resourceful, and thrive in an environment where you are trusted to execute without micromanagement.
  • Proven Track Record: A demonstrated history of closing complex B2B sales and commanding a room with C-level executives.
  • Willingness to Travel: Comfortable with a fast-paced environment and travelling 30–50% of the time across Europe, the US, and Asia, sometimes on short notice.
  • Added Value: Background in carbon markets, climate tech, or climate finance is a strong plus, as is any experience partnering with leadership to structure innovative debt financing for new projects.
