Approach Personnel are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join the on-site engineering team in Leicester. This is a static site role, offering the opportunity to work within a well-established facilities management team, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across one of Leicester's premier retail destinations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of electrical systems throughout the shopping centre and associated facilities.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- Alternate weekly shifts:
- Early Shift: 7:00am – 3:30pm
- Late Shift: 12:30pm – 9:00pm
- One weekend cover shift every 5–6 weeks
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and equipment.
- Respond to electrical breakdowns and reactive maintenance requests.
- Fault-find, diagnose, and repair electrical systems.
- Undertake minor electrical installation works as required.
- Complete routine inspections and testing of electrical equipment.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in line with statutory regulations and health & safety requirements.
- Accurately complete maintenance records and job reports using the CAFM system.
- Liaise with centre management, retailers, contractors, and fellow engineering team members.
- Support wider building maintenance activities when required.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Previous experience within commercial maintenance, facilities management, retail environments, or similar sectors.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding of health and safety legislation.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
- Experience working within shopping centres, retail environments, or large commercial buildings.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, fire alarms, and emergency lighting.
