Approach Personnel are currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Door Surveyor in Scotland to join a well-established fire safety and compliance business operating throughout the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in passive fire protection and fire door inspections to work across a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties, helping improve building safety and compliance standards.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out detailed fire door and compartmentation surveys within occupied and live environments. You will identify compliance issues, assess fire protection systems, and produce accurate reports outlining remedial actions and recommendations. This role offers a varied workload across multiple sites, requiring a proactive and detail-focused individual who can confidently manage inspections and communicate findings clearly with clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete fire door inspections and passive fire protection surveys across a range of properties
- Assess fire doors for compliance, condition, and overall performance against current regulations
- Identify breaches in compartmentation and other fire stopping defects
- Review drawings and specifications to verify fire protection requirements
- Carry out intrusive inspections where required to uncover concealed issues
- Produce comprehensive survey reports detailing defects and recommended corrective actions
- Provide clear updates and technical feedback to clients, contractors, and project teams
- Work closely with operational teams and Project Managers to support project delivery
- Maintain accurate digital records and survey documentation using reporting software
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience carrying out fire door and compartmentation surveys
- FDIS Inspector qualification essential
- ABBE qualification advantageous
- Good understanding of fire safety legislation and passive fire compliance standards
- Experience working within residential, commercial, or other occupied environments
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and fire rating details
Skills
- Strong eye for detail and ability to identify non-compliance issues effectively
- Excellent organisational and reporting skills
- Confident communicator both verbally and in writing
- Comfortable using tablets, survey software, and digital reporting systems
- Able to work independently and manage multiple site visits efficiently
Additional Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a car
- Willingness to travel to sites as required
