Assistant Buyer – Construction – Northampton Assistant Buyer – An exciting opportunity for an assistant buyer to join a leading privately owned housing developer in the Northampton area. Delivering a full procurement process to all sites within the required deadlines and on budget. Duties / Responsibilities Assist in growing the supply chain by identifying and securing new, innovative suppliers that offer cost savings. Purchase materials in line with site specifications and development drawings; manage procurement for specific sites from cradle to grave. Influence construction teams to minimize costs and reduce overheads through effective negotiation, rate adjustments, and reducing material wastage. Experience Experience in a procurement environment with strong understanding of purchasing, negotiations, and supplier management. Ability to read and understand working drawings and specifications; strong decision-making and commercial awareness. Skilled at monitoring supplier performance, resolving issues, and managing price negotiations. Qualifications ONC, HNC (or equivalent) or qualified by experience; HND desirable. Strong literacy and numerical skills. Ability to understand material timelines and build processes.
