Role Overview
We are looking for an individual with proven experience as an apprenticeship IQA, covering standards across data and tech standards such as Digital Support Technician, Network Engineer, and Cyber Security for example.
As an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) specialising in data and technology apprenticeship standards, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of assessment, consistency, and learner achievement across Apprentify’s portfolio.
You will work closely with Development Coaches and Trainers, providing clear guidance, developmental feedback, and assurance of quality. By combining your expertise in data and technology standards with robust quality assurance practices, you will play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding learner and employer outcomes while safeguarding Apprentify’s reputation with awarding organisations, Ofsted, and funding partners.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Standards:
- Conduct sampling and standardisation of assessment decisions to ensure validity, reliability, and compliance with awarding organisation requirements.
- Lead on internal quality reviews for data and technology standards, providing clear recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure consistency of assessment decisions across coaches and trainers.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of awarding body guidance, Ofsted requirements, and apprenticeship funding rules.
- Support the preparation and delivery of External Quality Assurance (EQA) visits.
Teaching, Learning & Assessment Assurance:
- Observe teaching and coaching sessions, providing clear, constructive feedback to raise quality of delivery.
- Evaluate curriculum resources and digital learning assets to ensure they are fit-for-purpose, current, and engaging.
- Identify trends in assessment practice and learner outcomes, feeding insights back to Curriculum and Quality teams.
Mentoring & Staff Development:
- Coach and mentor Development Coaches and Trainers to strengthen assessment practice, learner engagement, and documentation.
- Support colleagues in managing learner progression challenges, providing practical strategies and accountability.
- Promote a culture of continuous professional development and high standards across delivery teams.
Employer & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Support Development Coaches to build stronger relationships with employers, ensuring employer expectations are met in line with apprenticeship progress.
- Provide professional updates to internal and external stakeholders on quality assurance outcomes and improvement actions.
Digital & Technology Expertise:
- Act as subject matter specialist for data and technology apprenticeship standards (e.g. Data Technician, Data Analyst, Software, Digital Support).
- Ensure assessment practice remains aligned with sector expectations and evolving digital/tech industry standards.
- Maintain your own professional development (CPD) in the digital and data sector, applying learning to support curriculum and assessment.
Skills & Experience:
Essential
- Strong knowledge of apprenticeship delivery, quality assurance processes, and awarding body requirements.
- Experience of working with data and/or technology apprenticeship standards.
- Skilled in conducting desktop sampling, observations, and internal quality reviews.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and coaching to delivery staff.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
Desirable
- Recognised IQA qualification (e.g. Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice).
- Assessor qualification (e.g. CAVA, D32/33).
- Experience in curriculum design or digital learning resource evaluation.
- Strong IT literacy and familiarity with apprenticeship management systems (e.g. Bud/Aptem).
