The General Manager for Joinery & Components company located in East Auckland, NZ.

Primary Objective
The company will work to improve its position in the market and achieve financial growth.

Position Description

  1. The General Manager defines
    Long-term organizational strategic direction of the brand, building key customer relationships.
  2. Identify business opportunities.
  3. Maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions.
  4. Responsible for joint vendor supplier sourcing and building relationships.

Financial and Operational Leadership
Oversee the operational and financial performance of the company, including budgets, forecasts, and profitability targets. Ensure profitability within broad policy limits and take responsibility for achieving financial targets. Provide financial insights to NZ Directors. Drive cost efficiency while maintaining operational excellence.

Strategic Planning and Analysis
Assess present and future trends, challenges, and profit opportunities to inform decision-making. Participate in the development of long- and short-range strategic plans, budgets, and policies. Review and appraise activities, addressing unsatisfactory conditions proactively.

Communication and Collaboration
Liaise with NZ Directors, Factory Managers, and Sales, especially in preparing forecasts and budgets. Maintain effective communication between functional areas and coordinate with NZ Directors and Managers as needed. Build relationships with internal staff and NZ stakeholders to enhance corporate image and achieve goals.

Sales And Business Development
Maintain, in conjunction with the Sales Team, solid relationships with top business-critical customers, key customers, suppliers, and industry partners. Drive business growth by expanding market share and establishing collaborative efforts with the sales team to develop and execute marketing strategies. Represent the company at industry events and forums.

Compliance And Reporting
Ensure compliance with local and international regulations and company policies. Prepare and present regular performance reports to NZ Directors and the leadership team.

Organizational Structure and Development
Plan and develop the organizational structure to ensure it is adequately staffed. Control operations and manage key functions, including supplies, production, marketing, sales, distribution, personnel, technical, and administration areas. Lead and mentor managers of departments, fostering a high-performance culture and accountability. Implement professional development plans to enhance team capabilities. Contribute to the development and training of key team members. Promote a workplace culture aligned with company values of innovation and integrity with a strong customer focus.

Work Health and Safety Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedural requirements. Contribute to the achievement of Zero Harm: to anyone, anytime whilst at work objectives.

Working Environment
Low-level fabrication of timber and aluminium products, warehousing, and distribution of products to trade/retail channels from warehouses in Auckland and Christchurch across New Zealand.

Relationships and Authority
Reports directly to NZ Directors. Leads managers of all departments. Scope of Authority: Responsible for all aspects of operations, including strategic direction, financial outcomes, and organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience
Preferred tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline supported by strong management experience at a proper level for the position. Extensive senior-level management experience in a comparable industry or operational scope. Strong coordinating and communication skills to develop the company’s image, goals, and objectives. Proven ability to manage complex operations and deliver results.

Remuneration for this role is dependent on the Applicant.
