Financial Accounts Assistant – Fixed Term Contract 9 -12 months

Location: Newcastle under Lyme

Working Pattern: Full-time, 9–5 or 8–4 (some flexibility)

Salary: £33,000 – £35,000 per annum (pro rata) DOE

Are you an experienced finance professional looking for your next challenge? We’re looking for an Financial Accounts Assistant to join a fast-paced, friendly team on a 9–12 month maternity contract. This role would suit someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys working with numbers, and takes pride in producing accurate financial information.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone confident with Sage 50 Accounts who enjoys getting into the detail of billing and management accounts. If you’re proactive, curious, and like to get things done, this could be the perfect fit for you.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of billing – preparing, reviewing, and spotting patterns in the data
  • Pull together two sets of management accounts, including profit & loss and balance sheets
  • Prepare journals, accruals, and prepayments
  • Ensure financial data is accurate and up to date
  • Work with Sage 50 Accounts daily
  • Support the finance team by asking questions, sharing insights, and keeping things moving

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a Financial Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts
  • Good Excel skills – confident in using formulas and spreadsheets
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong financial awareness
  • A proactive mindset – someone who doesn’t just process, but asks questions and adds value
