Our client is an established project management consultancy with a strong pipeline of UK rail commissions secured for the next five years, working with the likes of Network Rail, HS2 and a number of Train Operating Companies.

They are looking for a Project Manager to join their growing team, working across commissions ranging from shorter 3-6 month assignments to major programmes lasting 12-24+ months.

This offers genuine variety across different clients, project stages and delivery environments, rather than being tied to a single long-term commission.

In turn, you'll need to be adaptable and comfortable moving between commissions and environments, sometimes at relatively short notice.

The business is an SME with a professional, collaborative and down-to-earth culture.

It's a close-knit team where people work well together, are hands-on in supporting each other, are trusted to get on with their jobs and genuinely enjoy being part of the business.

The company also places real importance on bringing the wider team together, with regular team-building and social events that form an important part of its culture.

Hybrid working is standard, although you'll need to travel to the office and/or client locations as required, typically 1-2 days per week.

  • Project management experience within rail, including delivery through GRIP, RIBA or comparable project lifecycles.
  • Good knowledge of railway operational and safety requirements, including works delivered within possessions.
  • Experience procuring and managing contractors, consultants or suppliers on behalf of clients.
  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
  • A recognised project management qualification or professional membership, such as APM or PRINCE2, either held or currently working towards.
  • Experience within or alongside a Train Operating Company (TOC), or another multi-stakeholder rail environment.
  • Experience working with NEC contracts or similar.
  • Degree, HND or HNC in a relevant discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
