Appoint Healthcare are proud to be partner with an extremely reputable, growing and forward-thinking leading national UK provider of health and social care services for adults with complex, severe and enduring mental health challenges. Together we are seeking a Hospital Manager for their 18 bedded locked rehabilitation unit for males between the age of 18 and 65 in Port Talbot. Referrals will be accepted from medium/low secure hospitals, PICU, acute admissions and the Criminal Justice System. Patients will be detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.

About the Job Role of Registered Hospital Manager

  • You will be the heart of the hospital and will manage the overall direction, strategy, and vision for both staff and patients.
  • Key Responsibilities of the Registered Hospital Manager

  • Effectively manage the budget, allocate resources & monitor performance.
  • Effectively manage revenue, expenses & performance ratios, including financial planning, forecasting, cashflow and billing.
  • Ensure care standards are met – exceeding the requirements of the Health & Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities), Regulations 2010 and the HIW.
  • Ensure all team members are up to date with mandatory training and remain up to date with research developments, legislative changes and current practices within healthcare.
  • Ensure the staff are clear about their responsibilities and duties and provide the support needed to carry out roles safely and effectively.
  • Meet the residents ever-changing needs with dignity and respect by developing and regularly reviewing care plans.
  • Manage recruitment, retention, training, motivation and communication to staff, conducting appraisals and disciplinary action.
  • Requirements of the Job Role of Registered Manager

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience within learning disabilities or a mental health environment, as a Registered Hospital Manager. We would also consider applications from a strong experienced Deputy Manager or Nurse Manager.
  • QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent/working towards.
  • Clinical experience would be preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of the regulatory responsibilities as a Registered Manager and the law relating to care services within Wales.
  • Experience of improving HIW ratings
  • Knowledge of health and safety matters in relation to hospital care services and risk management.
  • Experience in building positive working relationships with patients, their families, staff and other health and social care professionals.
  • Location
    This role is based in Port Talbot and is commutable from Swansea, Neath and Porthcawl and the surrounding areas.
