Head4Talent is working exclusively with a leading distribution business based in Pembrokeshire that is currently experiencing significant growth. To support this expansion, they are looking to hire a Financial Controller to join their leadership team at this exciting time. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of one day a week in the Pembroke Dock office.
Duties
- Working closely with the Group Finance Director, you will be responsible for the efficient and compliant management of the company\'s finances and resources.
- Your work will ensure the financial health, viability, and long-term sustainability of the business.
- You will report directly to the Group Finance Director and support senior management in all financial and commercial matters.
Financial Management
- Oversee all company accounts, including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Perform reconciliations and full balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage taxation, including quarterly VAT returns for UK, Ireland, and France.
- Oversee payroll processing for employees, including P11Ds.
- Prepare weekly finance packs and monthly management accounts within 8 working days.
- Assist with budgeting, monitor financial performance against budgets, and provide variance analysis.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure financial stability.
- Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and financial regulations.
- Manage and mentor the finance and admin team, fostering professional development.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate on developing financial systems to support growth and profitability.
- Submit quarterly Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) reports.
Qualifications And Experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or equivalent with substantial relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, VAT, payroll, and tax regulations.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Experience with accounting and ERP systems such as Sage or SAP.
- Experience in a senior finance role within a medium to large business.
- Prior experience managing a finance team.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
