The In-Car Payments engineering team is responsible for Parkopedia’s cutting-edge in-car commerce platform, enabling drivers to pay for fueling and parking from within their vehicle. We’re looking for a passionate and innovative engineer to join our cross-functional team as we take in-car payments to the next level.
You will have experience developing both front-end and back-end components of cloud-based systems. Your full-stack expertise will allow you to seamlessly integrate user interfaces with our back-end services, ensuring a cohesive, efficient, and secure payment system.
You’ll be adaptable, flexible and pragmatic with a DevOps mindset, able to apply good engineering processes to deliver software products of high quality and performance, even with occasionally ambiguous requirements.
Our ideal candidate will be a lifelong learner who enjoys solving technical problems, is curious about new technologies, and loves sharing their knowledge and experience with colleagues.
We offer a flexible and rewarding working environment within a collaborative, supportive and inclusive team, where your contribution is valued and you feel empowered to do your best work.
Responsibilities
On the front end, you’ll work primarily with React and TypeScript on the next generation of our driver-facing web interfaces and develop a new admin panel for our payment orchestration layer. You’ll design intuitive card-entry interfaces which deliver a great user experience. These components require a keen eye for user experience and a deep understanding of payment security best practices.
You’ll work with our serverless AWS infrastructure for the backend, implementing business logic, data processing, and security measures to support the front-end applications. You’ll be involved in the entire development lifecycle – integrating card enrolment forms and payment processors, optimising back-end performance for fast and secure data processing, etc.
You will participate in Scrum ceremonies and work with your colleagues, stakeholders and third parties, to align on requirements and deliver a user experience you can be proud of.
The role requires demonstrable experience of both front-end and back-end development using Node, Typescript and React, as well as full lifecycle development of RESTful APIs and web apps which can operate at scale on AWS.
You will appreciate the benefits of important practices like automated testing, CI/CD, and TDD, ensuring all code is tested and reviewed to the highest standards. You will adapt quickly to changing environments, concepts and emerging technologies to assist in the future roadmap of our products.
We operate a DevOps culture and are responsible for developing, deploying, operating and monitoring our team’s deliverables. It would help if you understood performance tuning and optimisation, and how to diagnose technical issues across local, pre-release and production environments running on AWS.
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) in full-stack development using Node.js, TypeScript and React
- Strong proficiency in React and RESTful API design
- In-depth knowledge of AWS services, particularly Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, CloudFront, and KMS
- Experience with serverless architectures
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as GitHub Actions and IaC (e.g. CDK)
- Strong understanding of security best practices
- Experience with encryption techniques and secure data handling
- Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable systems capable of handling high-traffic loads
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of payment processing systems and in-car commerce platforms
- Experience working in PCI DSS compliant environments
- Understanding and adhering to the relevant financial regulations and compliance standards
