Occupational Therapist and Therapy Lead in Warrington

If so, join the team at St Mary's Hospital, Warrington as a Lead Occupational Therapist. St Mary's Hospital provides care and support for men aged 18 years and over who require a period of specialised Level 2 mental health rehabilitation inpatient services (higher support needs) in a safe and caring environment. The hospital also offers specialised services for people with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) in a rehabilitation setting.

With experience from the NHS and/or private sector, you will be responsible for managing a complex caseload using evidence-based and people-focused principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual and group interventions which will support the service users to develop their skills in self maintenance, productivity and leisure. You will report directly to the Hospital Director, with the opportunity to work autonomously in your running of the OT department.

As a Lead Occupational Therapist, you will be:

• Managing and co-ordinating the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication by the occupational therapists.
• Ensuring the team maintains accurate and timely records detailing each patient's rehabilitation/progress.
• Ensuring the effective and efficient management of more junior staff.
• Supporting clinical team working, including both direct interventions and the delivery of staff training programmes.
• Receiving and responding promptly to referrals, undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis.
• Working to develop living skills, rehabilitation, and educational opportunities/therapies under the strategic direction of the Therapy Lead and other members of the Senior Management Team.

To be qualified and registered as an Occupational Therapist. Experience in assessing people with a variety of psychometrics and risk assessment tools. A full and clean UK driving licence.

You will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to ensure those in care are supported to make decisions and access the community. Skills are taught and support given to promote recovery and develop confidence in order for them to live a more independent life.
