Join Middlewood Clinic in Midhurst as a Mental Health Act Administrator and enjoy a career where you are valued and supported to be the best you can be. Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for organising and coordinating First Tier Tribunals Section Renewal and Hospital Manager Appeal meetings for service users, preparing and arranging paperwork to support the meetings.
As a Mental Health Act Administrator, you will process hearings for Mental Health Tribunals and Hospital Managers Reviews, notifying all parties, obtaining reports, negotiating hearing dates and venues, and providing and processing documentation in line with MHA Code of Practice and procedures.
This role is a part-time position of 22.5 hours a week, 3 days a week, 9am-5pm or 8am-4pm.
As a Mental Health Act Administrator, you will be:
- Attending Managers Review Hearings in the capacity of the MHA Administrator/Clerk and ensuring the review satisfies the fundamental legal requirements of fairness, reasonableness, and lawfulness.
- Following up MHA action points included in the Care Quality Commission reports submitted following visits to clinical areas.
- Liaising with the consultants and nursing team to update service users' information regarding renewal of sections and consent to treatments.
- Providing information to service users about their access to Independent Mental Health Advocacy Services (IMHA).
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Confidence to liaise and give advice to a wide range of people from different professions.
- Experience within a similar role.
- Knowledge of the relevant legislation and current case law relating to the Act.

Location: Little Ashfield, Midhurst, West Sussex, GU29 9JP. Middlewood Clinic provides care and treatment for men and women who have an eating disorder including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and atypical Eating Disorders. Our approach will be to restore a healthy body weight and address psychological problems during treatment.
The Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) at Middlewood Clinic will be made up of the Registered Manager, Consultant Psychiatrist, Nurses, Healthcare Workers, Psychologist, Dietician, Occupational Therapist, and Social Worker. The hospital will have 12 comfortable ensuite bedrooms and a variety of communal and recreational spaces including lounge areas, a light and airy dining room, activities room, visitors room, therapy rooms, therapy kitchen area, and a lovely cottage style garden.
