Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for organising and coordinating First Tier Tribunals Section Renewal and Hospital Manager Appeal meetings for service users, preparing and arranging paperwork to support the meetings.

As a Mental Health Act Administrator, you will process hearings for Mental Health Tribunals and Hospital Managers Reviews, notifying all parties, obtaining reports, negotiating hearing dates and venue, and providing and processing documentation in line with MHA Code of Practice and procedures.

This role is a full-time position of 37.5 hours a week, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

As a Mental Health Act Administrator you will be:

  • Attending Managers Review Hearings in the capacity of the MHA Administrator/Clerk and ensuring the review satisfies the fundamental legal requirements of fairness, reasonableness, and lawfulness.
  • Following up MHA action points included in the Care Quality Commission reports submitted following visits to clinical areas.
  • Liaising with the consultants and nursing team to update service users' information regarding renewal of sections and consent to treatments.
  • Providing information to service users about their access to Independent Mental Health Advocacy Services (IMHA).

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Confidence to liaise and give advice to a wide range of people from different professions.
  • Experience within a similar role.
  • Knowledge of the relevant legislation and current case law relating to the Act.

Where you will be working:

Location: Dunnock View, Tendring, Clacton-on-Sea, CO16 0BX. Dunnock View is a 42-bed service, providing treatment for men and women who may have suffered trauma and are affected by Mental Health disorders. A trauma-informed care model is used to focus on length of stay to ensure individuals can move as quickly and safely as possible from the service to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them. Service users could be suffering from Acute mental illness, Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Personality Disorder, Dual diagnosis, Self-harm, Substance misuse issues.
