As a Social Worker, you can be the reason why lives change for the better, helping some of the most vulnerable people gain a brighter future. With previous experience from the NHS or private care, you can join the multidisciplinary team at The Woodmill, Cullompton, which has a strong emphasis on teamwork and where you will provide care for patients as they step down through their recovery.

As a Social Worker you will manage a complex caseload and be responsible for social care assessments, risk assessments, facilitating group activities, and contributing to ICR meetings. You will support service users to make viable plans for their future. You will report to the Safeguarding Lead and will manage internal investigations and liaise with home authorities for service users during their admission and discharge process. You will also have access to a range of training opportunities to support your professional development.

As a Social Worker you will be:

  • Lone working
  • Work closely with other MDT members
  • Write and complete statutory reports (CPA, MH) within specified timelines
  • Work with families, creating a therapeutic and professional relationship beneficial to the patient
  • Referring to LADO and Local Authority in line with safeguarding and assessments
  • Educating hospital staff about relevant safeguarding matters
  • Completing a full annual social care reassessment within the CPA format
  • Facilitating access to welfare rights, housing, advocacy services and associated support services
  • Participating in 1:1 supervision

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Social Work degree
  • Experience within a similar environment
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults

Location: Exeter Road, Cullompton, Devon, EX15 1EA

The Woodmill is an 18-bed unit that creates a pathway for patients to step down through their recovery. Ivy is a 6-bed admission area and Rose is a 12-bed rehabilitation area, with the option to flex within the 12-bed area to a four-bed section that can create a further step down with a separate entrance for patients progressing well and preparing for discharge to the community. The aim of the service is to support women to improve their self-worth, build a better quality of life, and equip them with the skills needed for community living and increased independence.
