To deliver high-quality Radiographic Techniques in accordance with Company procedures, Applus+ standards, client requirements, and Radiographic Local Rules, ensuring safe, compliant, and effective delivery of inspection activities across EDF nuclear site operations. This role supports the EDF nuclear contract and is primarily site-based. You may be located at any of the following permanent bases: Heysham 1, Heysham 2, Sizewell B. The role is guaranteed 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, at your normal base location. However, there is an expectation that you will travel to other EDF nuclear sites listed above to support planned outage work. These outages typically occur 3–4 times per year and require flexibility to support operational demand across the fleet.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Leading all aspects of radiographic activities, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.
- Ensuring full compliance with Applus+ procedures, client requirements, Local Rules, and relevant legislation.
- Acting as Company‑appointed Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) where required.
- Reporting radiographic and operational issues to the Site/Base Manager on a regular basis.
- Ensuring all Controlled Areas comply with Local Rules and IRR17 regulations.
- Verifying that all radiographic results are correctly recorded in line with company and client codes of practice.
- Ensuring all radiographic equipment is correctly signed in/out, maintained, and kept in safe working condition; reporting any defects immediately.
- Maintaining compliance with all radiography procedures, including Stamp Procedure, workflow controls, and associated documentation.
- Ensuring radiography equipment and facilities (including dark rooms where applicable) are maintained in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
- Adhering to all safety rules and escalating unsafe conditions to the RPS or Site Supervisor immediately.
- Completing source accountability checks in accordance with IRR17 requirements.
- Supporting continuous improvement of radiographic processes and promoting best practice across EDF sites.
Qualifications and Experience
- PCN Level 2 Radiography + Advanced Radiation Supervisor
- PCN Level 2 MPI and DPI
- Valid Eye Test
- CCNSG Safety Passport
- CTC (Counter Terrorist Check) – Nuclear Clearance
