Overview

To carry out Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and inspection activities using approved techniques in accordance with Applus+ UK Ltd procedures, relevant industry standards, and client specifications. The role supports Applus+ in delivering high-quality inspection services while ensuring safety, accuracy, and compliance with all regulatory and company requirements.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the NDT Technician at Applus+ UK Ltd include, but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out day-to-day inspections using welding inspection and NDT techniques in accordance with Applus+ procedures and client requirements, ensuring client satisfaction and regularly updating the Site Manager or General Manager on job progress and status.
  • Taking responsibility for assigned inspection activities or projects to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
  • Accurately maintaining timesheets, inspection records, and all required documentation.
  • Ensuring full compliance with Applus+ policies, client requirements, and applicable legislation related to conventional and advanced NDT techniques.
  • Verifying that inspection equipment and consumables are within valid calibration dates prior to use.
  • Preparing clear and accurate inspection reports in accordance with Applus+ Quality Control procedures, ensuring reports are submitted to clients within required timeframes and in line with the Applus+ NDT Reporting Procedure.
  • Carrying out additional tasks as directed by line management to support operational requirements.
  • Assisting with the training and development of junior or less experienced staff, contributing to knowledge sharing and team capability within Applus+.
  • Providing management with updated certification documentation as new qualifications are obtained.
  • Adhering to the Inspector Declaration, maintaining independence, impartiality, and integrity in all inspection activities performed on behalf of Applus+.
  • Complying with the Letter of Authorisation issued by Applus+, understanding the scope of activities authorised while working for the company.

Qualifications and Experience

  • EN4179 MPI or DPI – We would consider someone with PCN MPI or DPI that has a genuine interest to convert into Aerospace
  • Documentary evidence of training completion and minimum on-the-job experience in accordance with SNT-TC-1A and BS EN ISO 9712 standards.
  • EN4179, PCN, SNT, or CSWIP Level 1 or Level 2 certification.
  • Working knowledge of the inspection and testing services provided by Applus+ UK Ltd.

  • Strong technical expertise and problem-solving ability
  • Good planning and organisational skills
