Job Summary
The Dean of Student Success will provide supplemental student support services designed to improve student achievement, engagement, attendance, graduation progress, and Postsecondary Readiness. The position will help connect counseling and instructional support services by working collaboratively with teachers, counselors, instructional coaches, administrators, families, and other support staff to identify student needs, coordinate appropriate interventions, monitor student progress, and address barriers that impact student achievement and successful transition beyond high school.
Performance Responsibilities
Support and coordinate supplemental services for students who need additional assistance meeting academic, graduation, and Postsecondary Readiness benchmarks. Assist with the implementation of evidence-based interventions, student progress monitoring, family communication, and coordination of services among instructional, counseling, and student support staff.
Essential functions, Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide targeted support to students who are at risk of not meeting academic, graduation, attendance, or Postsecondary Readiness benchmarks.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, instructional coaches, administrators, and other support staff to identify students needing additional assistance and coordinate appropriate supports.
- Assist with the implementation and coordination of evidence-based academic interventions and supplemental student support services.
- Monitor student data, including academic performance, attendance, credit attainment, course completion, graduation progress, engagement, and Postsecondary Readiness indicators.
- Provide individualized student mentoring, goal setting, progress monitoring, and follow-up.
- Assist students in monitoring progress toward credit attainment, credit recovery, graduation requirements, and Postsecondary Readiness goals.
- Connect students with appropriate college, career, military, workforce, credentialing, and other postsecondary opportunities and resources.
- Assist students in accessing academic interventions, credit recovery opportunities, and other available supports.
- Work with students to identify barriers affecting attendance, engagement, academic progress, graduation, or Postsecondary Readiness and connect students with appropriate school or community resources.
- Communicate with families regarding student progress, identified needs, available interventions, and opportunities for additional support.
- Support family engagement related to student achievement, graduation, and Postsecondary Readiness.
- Maintain documentation of student interventions, services, contacts, progress, and outcomes.
- Use student outcome data to monitor the effectiveness of interventions and communicate student progress to appropriate school staff.
- Facilitate communication among students, families, teachers, counselors, instructional coaches, and other support personnel to promote coordinated student services.
- Develop positive and supportive relationships with students and encourage student ownership of academic, career, and postsecondary goals.
- Support a positive school climate that promotes student engagement, achievement, attendance, and successful preparation for life after high school.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the principal or superintendent/designee.

Qualifications:
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in education, human services, counseling, social services, business, or a related field required.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational, mentoring, youth development, college and career readiness, or student support setting preferred.
- Experience assisting students with academic progress, attendance, graduation planning, career exploration, or Postsecondary Readiness preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to establish positive and productive relationships with students and families.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, instructional coaches, administrators, and community partners.
- Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and personnel information.
- Must meet all district requirements for classified employment.
