Applied acoustics is a manufacturer of high‑value marine‑related electronic‑acoustic products that include subsea and surface positioning and tracking systems, and a market‑leading range of seismic survey equipment.

Due to business growth we have a vacancy for an Electronics Design Engineer to join our team.

Job description:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Electronics Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be involved in the design and development of our in‑house systems.

The engineer will work alongside other members of the design department to deliver innovative products for the subsea and offshore sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and prototyping electronic circuits and systems
  • Leading design and or collaborating with cross‑functional teams to integrate systems into larger products
  • Working within our ISO 9001 framework to produce product documentation, including test specifications and procedures
  • Conducting testing and troubleshooting to ensure product quality and reliability
  • Staying current with industry trends and advancements in electronic engineering

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in ‘Electronic and Electrical Engineering’ or related field
  • Strong understanding of electronic circuit design principles
  • Proficiency in CAD software for circuit design, simulation and PCB layout
  • Proficiency in programming of MCU and PIC devices
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly

Desired traits:

  • C / C# language skills
  • Experience with DSP / FPGA coding
  • Experience of Acoustic Systems (preferably underwater)
  • Experience of RF circuit design and analogue electronics
  • Strong mathematical or physics background
