This is a unique opportunity to work with, and make a real difference to, the lives of our very young children, aged 6-10 when they join us. Our children have experienced significant trauma in their lives, often compounded by multiple breakdowns with family and foster care placements. Our goal is to provide a therapeutic intervention which helps our children to move on from us before they reach their teenage years with the skills and resilience they need to manage in family settings and schools.

We have remained a small family‑run organisation, dedicated to our values and ethos. Over decades we have developed our own unique approach and the results we achieve are exceptional. Join our team

  • With the support of our experienced management team, you’ll join our multidisciplinary Senior Leadership Team, reviewing and shaping practice, policies and procedures.
  • We work together as one team. You will lead the home’s team with direct support from the home's Deputy Manager, Assistant Manager, Team Leaders and Shift leaders, along with an established, experienced and dedicated care team.
  • You’ll work alongside Education Leaders, Psychologist, and Therapists to coordinate a holistic care plan unique to each of our children.
  • You will be actively involved in new referrals, whilst prioritising the impact on the children currently placed with us.

Main Purpose of Post

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the home
  • Be responsible for the safe and effective management of the home
  • To be responsible for shaping and delivering the residential home's Statement of Purpose and managing a team to achieve the same
  • To maintain the culture and implement the ethos of ATC
  • To actively influence the future developments of ATC
  • Ensure the children's and adult's safety and well‑being is appropriately protected at all times
  • Inspire, lead and manage a team of staff to deliver high quality care, to meet the specific needs of each individual child
  • Your leadership and management will result in positive experiences and progress for children and adults
  • You will actively promote equality and diversity, and challenge any discriminatory behaviours
  • You have a thorough knowledge of
    • All aspects of practice that relate to managing a children’s home
    • Legislation and guidance that applies to children’s homes
    • Ofsted’s policies and procedures, including guidance on the children’s homes inspection framework

Requirements

  • Have, or be willing to work towards, Level 5 Residential Childcare - Leadership & Management
  • Minimum of 2 years leadership experience gained in a residential setting, including recruitment, training, managing performance, disciplinary interviews etc
  • Experience of managing OFSTED inspections, and other regulatory bodies, frameworks, assessment standards and undertaking regulation 44 and 45 reviews
  • Experience of handling conflict and managing sensitive issues to achieve positive outcomes
  • Experience of working with budgets
  • Experience of working in accordance with established policies and procedures and of developing and implementing new policies, practices and procedures
  • Experience of managing health and safety issues, undertaking fire safety and health and safety checks and ensuring compliance with legislation

Level of Post

The Registered Manager is a vitally important role within Appletree Treatment Centre. You will be part of the Appletree Treatment Centre Senior Leadership Team. You will be accountable to the Principal/Responsible Individual.

Everyone within Appletree Treatment Centre has a responsibility for, and is committed to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and for ensuring that they are protected from harm. We carry out the appropriate vetting and verifications on all staff and this post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We might conduct an online search as part of due diligence checks in the recruitment process. As this position is not exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020, no convictions or cautions are protected and will not be filtered from an enhanced DBS Certificate.
