Ready to lead a dynamic hospitality team? Join North Yorkshire Council as a Catering Supervisor and lead the operations of one of our vibrant cafés, restaurants, or leisure and wellness venues. You’ll lead a team, ensure high standards of hygiene and customer service, and make sure every shift runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain high health and safety standards, ensuring a safe environment for staff and customers by following up-to-date hygiene protocols.
- Handle cash securely and strictly follow company cash management procedures.
- Manage daily operations efficiently to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Keep all areas clean and tidy from the start of the shift through to the end of the day.
- Perform regular cleaning, maintenance, and periodic deep cleans of public areas and equipment.
- Set up the café and equipment effectively, arranging furniture to meet customer and layout requirements.
- Comply with all regulatory legislation, including Health and Safety, food hygiene, and COSHH regulations for equipment and chemicals.
- Monitor fire hazards and general visitor well-being, acting as the designated Fire Marshall during emergency evacuations.
- Maximise sales opportunities by actively promoting all services, while communicating regularly with the Manager.
What we are looking for:
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is an essential requirement.
- Good understanding of Health and Safety and licensing laws for food and alcohol venues, and knowledge of preparing and serving food, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, with a confident and professional approach, and the ability to handle customer feedback and complaints in a positive manner.
- Resilient and calm under pressure, with a proven ability to work independently using your own initiative, while actively contributing to a supportive team dynamic.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a strong work ethic to motivate others.
- Highly organised multitasker who can successfully balance competing priorities during busy shifts.
- Personal License is desirable but not essential.
