We are looking for someone with electrical experience to join us and support the efficient running of Electrical Engineering activities across North Yorkshire.

As a Trainee Street Lighting Supervisor at NY Highways, you will be responsible for supporting the Street Lighting Supervisor to manage operatives, the Street Lighting depot and overseeing the day-to-day delivery of electrical engineering activities. Your work will be varied and will include major and minor works, passenger transport, HEA/HERS staff assessments, cyclical bulk clean and change as well as third party external work.

As a Trainee Street Lighting Supervisor, you will use your industry knowledge and experience to support work streams for both planned and emergency programmes of work, ensuring they fit in with time, safety, and financial timescales. You will maintain accurate records of site activities and setting financial budgets, ensuring your team are compliant and have their HEA portfolio and assessments up to date. You will motivate others and be confident leading and mentoring junior colleagues, including onboarding new starters and apprentices. Taking part in staff appraisals, being a support for your colleagues and setting safety performance measures will all be important aspects of this role whilst developing your skills as a leader.

We will offer the support and training needed in your role to enable you to progress from trainee to supervisor level, allowing you to progress in your career when a role becomes available.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • City and Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in electrical installation
  • Wiring Regulations – 18th Edition
  • Experience in highway Electrical related activities as an agent, supervisor or equivalent, undertaking repairs, testing & new infrastructure installation
  • Knowledge of current guidance and legislation with respect to street lighting, electrical design, inspection and maintenance
  • Ability to reach sites across North Yorkshire
