We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Highways Skilled Operative to join our team based in Skipton, North Yorkshire. As a Skilled Operative, you’ll work alongside experienced colleagues to deliver essential infrastructure improvements. From kerbing and drainage to traffic management and emergency callouts, your skills will help keep North Yorkshire moving.

What you’ll be doing

  • Help maintain and improve the local highway network, carrying out a wide range of routine and seasonal works, including:
  • Kerbing, drainage, patching & ironwork repairs
  • Traffic management and verge upkeep
  • Operate highways plant & equipment
  • Join the out‑of‑hours rota for emergencies

This is a hands‑on, outdoor role, working in all weathers. Full PPE and outdoor clothing is provided.

We’re looking for someone who has

  • Experience in highways tasks or highways plant operation
  • Relevant Level 2 qualification in highway maintenance or equivalent experience
  • Abrasive Wheels
  • Traffic Management TM1 and TM2
