Location: Selby, North Yorkshire

The Integrated Passenger Transport Operations Team is responsible for the safe and efficient use of over one hundred minibuses used to transport people in North Yorkshire. The team comprises approximately 340 Drivers and Passenger assistants that operate at locations throughout North Yorkshire. The transport provided enables people to access day centres, learning opportunities, supported employment and other meaningful activities in our community. The Team also provides several Local Bus Services throughout the County.

We are looking for an Operations Assistant for the Selby based Operations Officer. This post is a Fixed Term position at 37 Hours per week and is based in Selby.

The role

The main function of this post is to support the Operations Officer with the day-to-day Operational duties regarding the Safe, Reliable and Cost Effective Operation of Integrated Passenger Transport in the Selby area. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the Operations Officer in responding to transport requests from colleagues in Integrated Passenger Transport and customers requesting trips.

The Post Holder will be responsible for the arrangements to ensure timely presentation of vehicles for maintenance inspections, MOT’s, repairs and helping with breakdowns, linking up with the NYC Fleet Management Team and also NY Highways or other contractors as required. The successful applicant will respond to unforeseen events by providing solutions to ensure service delivery is continued, for example, responding to staff absences, vehicle breakdowns and traffic delays. The successful candidate must be able to manage work pressure effectively and show resilience to cope with setbacks.

This post involves access to vulnerable service users and if you were offered the position, you would be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) background check.
