Otley Street Community Nursery School is looking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic, and caring Advanced Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated nursery team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-quality early years setting where children are encouraged to develop confidence, curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and colleagues to support children’s learning and development through high-quality interactions, targeted interventions, and play-based learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Key Person for a group of children, building strong relationships with children and their families.
  • Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Lead targeted interventions and small-group activities to support children’s progress and development.
  • Observe, assess, and record children’s learning, contributing to learning journals and assessment processes.
  • Support children’s communication and language development through high-quality interactions and purposeful play.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children.
  • Support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), adapting provision where appropriate.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and inclusion for all children.
  • Help maintain an engaging, safe, and stimulating learning environment both indoors and outdoors.
  • Contribute to safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare procedures across the nursery.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • A relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, or Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • A commitment to further training.
  • Experience of working within an early years or nursery setting.
  • A secure understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Knowledge of child development and effective strategies to support early learning.
  • Experience of observing, assessing, and recording children’s progress.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and supporting children with additional needs.
  • A positive, proactive, and reflective approach to their work.
