Together, we bring a mix of experience, fresh ideas, and a shared passion for delivering innovative and sustainable transport solutions.

As part of our collaborative and forward-thinking team, the Senior or Transport Modeller will play a key role in supporting North Yorkshire Council by maintaining and developing a suite of microsimulation models to inform critical transport decisions. With guidance and mentorship from an experienced transport modelling professional with over 15 years’ expertise, particularly in microsimulation, you’ll benefit from a supportive environment that encourages technical development and professional growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing your own workloads and outputs to support wider team and company objectives
  • Collaborating on a diverse range of projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver transport planning solutions
  • Helping to establish best practices, drive innovation, and contribute to the successful delivery of highway schemes and development projects
  • Building, calibrating and validating existing and new microsimulation models from a couple of junctions to whole towns.
  • Supporting the preparation and delivery of Transport Assessments

What We’re Looking For:

  • A degree in a numerate discipline such as Transport Planning, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering or similar
  • Experience in transport modelling within a consultancy environment, including leading or supporting project delivery
  • Track record in building, calibrating and validating microsimulation models
  • Proficiency in industry software such as Paramics Discovery, Vissim and/or Aimsun
  • Solid understanding of UK transport planning and regulatory requirements
  • Good project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage resources effectively
  • Confident communicator, able to engage with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
  • Professional, ethical approach with a strong focus on quality and safety
  • Membership of, or working towards, a relevant professional body (TPS, CILT, CIHT)
  • Full UK driving licence

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary up to £40,000 per year, dependent on your skills and experience
  • Enrolment onto a company pension scheme with contribution up to 6%
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, with the opportunity to purchase up to 10 additional annual leave days per leave year.
  • Hybrid working to support you in a healthy work-life balance.
  • Professional development through varying project work
  • A benefits scheme which includes a good maternity leave package, cycle2work scheme and our online voucher portal giving access to discounts from leading retailers to help you save on shopping, days out, or nights in.
  • Stability in your role – public sector security in a private sector industry
