Contract: Fixed term for one year, term time only including training days

About the job

We are seeking a general teaching assistant to join our team at Appleton Wiske Community Primary School, initially for one year. The post holder will work mainly in Class 1, supporting pupils in EYFS and Year 1. The post holder will be responsible for individual and small group learning activities and will work in the classroom or appropriate location within the school, as directed by the Class Teacher. Support and guidance will be provided.

We are looking for someone with passion and enthusiasm, a sense of humour, excellent communication skills and the ability to support children in an exciting and engaging manner. Potential applicants will need to be effective communicators who possess good literacy and numeracy skills. Applicants will need to have experience of working with children, as well as a desire to support pupils to reach their full potential through one-to-one and group support. Knowledge of the Early Years Curriculum and/or National Curriculum and a good understanding of SEND within primary education would also be desirable.

This is a fixed term position for 17.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only.
