Our Service
The Compliance Team is a key part of the Integrated Passenger Transport Service within the Environment Directorate. Integrated Passenger Transport is responsible for the delivery of the following services across North Yorkshire:
- Home to School Transport and Health and Social Care Transport
- Local & Community Transport Bus Services
- Bus Information and Infrastructure
- Transport Policy
- ENCTS
- Transport Operator Performance and Contract Compliance
- Delivery of the Council’s “in-house” transport services
The Role
As a Compliance Officer you will join a busy team who are responsible for monitoring contracts to schools and other establishments, as well as contracted local bus services. You will deal with any issues, incidents or complaints which arise in relation to contracted transport services, ensuring that all customers, both internal and external, are communicated with effectively and in a timely manner. You will be responsible for ensuring that any concerns regarding the operation of contracts are addressed appropriately and in line with the Terms & Conditions of Contract.
You will have communication with a wide range of people, including parents/carers, transport providers, local authorities, enforcement bodies and school/establishment staff. You will deal with sensitive issues and complex complaints, as well as difficult and challenging customers and contractors. Therefore, the ability to work professionally and calmly, be able to handle pressure and to find solutions to problems are essential.
Experience of working with both internal and external partners, as well as contractors, would be beneficial. Experience of DBS protocols and safeguarding procedures would also be an advantage.
