The Role
As an Advanced Teaching Assistant you will:
- Provide excellent one‑to‑one and group supervision across a variety of educational opportunities.
- Provide evidence of learner progress and achievement, ensuring the learner’s voice is central.
- Champion person‑centred learning and ensure learners are supported to achieve their goals.
- Safeguard and risk‑assess our vulnerable young people.
- Undertake personal and intimate care.
- Deal with the medical needs of learners and administer medication.

Clearances and References
The post holder is required to obtain a satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance. To comply with 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' and North Yorkshire Council’s recruitment policy, roles involving regulated activity require two satisfactory references. One reference must come from the current or most recent employer. If the candidate has previously worked with children, a reference should also be obtained from that employer. All references must be signed by a senior person, typically the headteacher or chair of governors.

Shortlisted candidates will attend a half‑day interview, support in a session and a formal interview.

Working Hours and Weeks
The role is term‑time only, covering 37 weeks per year:
- 35 weeks delivering face‑to‑face sessions with learners.
- 2 weeks dedicated to training and development.
The contracted hours are 34.75 per week (pro rata), Monday to Friday 08:45–16:00, with an additional hour per week for a staff meeting.
