Ready to develop your capability and deliver projects that make a difference? Join Align Property Services and take the next step in your civil engineering career. We’re looking for a Civil Engineer to join our growing team and play a hands‑on role in delivering highways, drainage and infrastructure projects that support communities across the region. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer ready to step into greater ownership, independence and professional growth, working on real projects from design through to delivery.

At Align Property Services, we don’t just design buildings, we create spaces that matter. We have recently been recognised for our partnership with North Yorkshire Council for the major reconstruction of Fore Gill Bridge in the Yorkshire Dales. The project was named the Best Civil Engineering Project in the region delivered for under £5 million, receiving a Smeaton Award at the 2026 ICE Yorkshire & Humber Civil Engineering Awards.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of North Yorkshire Council, we’re one of the largest and most respected building design consultancies in the North of England. Our collaborative, forward‑thinking team delivers a wide range of services, including:

  • Building Surveying & Project Management
  • Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying & CDM

From small scale surveys to multi‑million‑pound developments, including schools, fire stations, care homes, and heritage buildings, our projects are as varied as our clients. With a strong and growing pipeline across both public and private sectors, there’s never been a better time to join us.

Delivering civil engineering designs across highways, drainage and external works:

  • Producing 2D and 3D models using Civil 3D, including alignments, surfaces and earthworks
  • Preparing technical designs, calculations and reports for planning and approvals
  • Coordinating with architects, structural engineers, highways engineers and QS teams
  • Supporting approvals with statutory bodies (e.g. S38, S278, S104)
  • Attending site visits and contributing to the resolution of technical queries

Our Civils team is currently delivering a diverse portfolio of challenging and rewarding projects across the region. This includes a full septic tank replacement scheme at Watchtree Nature Reserve in Carlisle, taking designs from feasibility through to construction support within a sensitive rural environment. We’re leading highway and drainage design for a major infrastructure project at Selby Train Station, integrating SuDS features and coordinating works in a complex rail‑adjacent setting. In Hambleton, the team is undertaking full estate road and drainage design for a 100+ unit residential development, including SuDS strategy and Section 38/104 processes with close liaison with the Local Authority and statutory undertakers. We’re also supporting a fast‑paced commercial scheme in Easingwold, providing comprehensive civil engineering design for a new supermarket and petrol filling station covering levels, drainage, highways interfaces, earthworks and multi‑disciplinary coordination.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Degree‑qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent via apprenticeship route) with post‑qualification experience
  • Experience or strong interest in highways and drainage design
  • Confident communicator who enjoys collaborative, multi‑disciplinary working
  • Motivated to progress professionally and take increasing responsibility
  • Full UK driving licence (or working towards)

Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD or drainage modelling software is beneficial but not essential.

We’re committed to your growth:

  • Structured progression through our ICE Training Scheme
  • Support towards IEng or CEng
  • Clear pathway towards Senior Engineer
  • Growing exposure to clients, approvals and project coordination

Why join Align Property Services?

  • Real responsibility on live projects
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays with opportunity to purchase up to 10 additional annual leave days per year
