Pay: £17.04 per hour
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Hours: 48 hpw - working days Sunday to Wednesday, 12 hours per day – start time 5 AM until 5:30 PM (Half hour lunch deducted)
Location: Harewood Whin Waste Transfer Station, Tinker Lane, York YO23 3RR

Yorwaste's Drivers are responsible for providing services to our commercial customers across York and North Yorkshire. Working independently, you will show good management of personal workload, ensuring the safe operation and driving of our various vehicles, in-line with our health and safety standards. As a Hook Driver, you will demonstrate good organisational and time-management skills, adapting to varying routes and schedules based on the evolving needs of our clients and the business. Being a positive and enthusiastic person, you will be able to adapt to operational obstacles that may arise in varying weather conditions. Excellent communication skills are required to coordinate regularly with our transport planners and the wider team, ensuring an efficient and friendly service.
This is a permanent, full-time position, working days Sunday to Wednesday 12 hours per day – start time 5 AM until 5:30 PM (Half hour lunch deducted). You may be required to work additional hours and bank holidays, so availability during these times is important, as is the ability to cover holidays and sickness as needed.
Essential Qualifications:
- Category C Drivers Licence (Class 2) with no historical driving disqualifications.
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
It is desirable that you have experience operating the specific vehicle type, as well as experience within the waste industry, however, is not essential.
