We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced co-ordinator to lead on delivery of the Heart of Helmsley project. This £150,000 project will deliver access improvements to make Helmsley’s High Street, town and facilities more welcoming and accessible for all, particularly for multi-generational families and those with restricted mobility or other additional accessibility needs.

Working with project partners, the Heart of Helmsley Coordinator will be responsible for managing delivery of several priority initiatives to improve accessibility across the town centre, enhance public toilet facilities and organise delivery of a programme of events for residents and businesses, designed to strengthen community connection and boost the local economy. This post is mainly based in Helmsley with the opportunity for some home working. You should be capable of travelling to meetings and to deliver a range of evening and weekend events outside of normal office hours.

What you will bring

Reporting to the Howardian Hills Manager, you will be self-motivated, self-managing and capable of organising your own time. You will develop and manage relationships with key project partners, stakeholders and the community, to ensure that the project is delivered to time and on budget. You will be able to demonstrate experience in project management and delivery including contractor supervision, management and monitoring of budgets and project spend including use of spreadsheets, presenting verbal and written information in a format relevant to differing audiences and excellent interpersonal skills. Local knowledge of Helmsley is an advantage. A full driving licence and access to a car is preferred.

Employment contract

Funded by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority Mayoral High Street Fund and hosted by the Howardian Hills National Landscape team, you will be employed by North Yorkshire Council on a fixed term contract to 31 March 2027.
