Harrogate Music Centre is looking for 2 inspiring and passionate music tutors to teach on Saturday mornings (from 9am to 12:30pm), and to lead some of our ensembles.

The Service

We are a thriving music centre, with a longstanding tradition of producing excellent ensembles, for all ages and levels of ability. We have now 4 ensembles that need a new director starting in September:

  • Beginners woodwind & brass band
  • Concert band
  • Mixed ensemble (adults, including instruments across all families)

The role

The post is a mixture of teaching individual lessons and small groups, as well as conducting some of our ensembles, of which you will teach two according to prior experience and timetabling needs.

We will welcome candidates from varied musical backgrounds, from classical to popular music, marching bands, jazz, etc. Experience conducting and leading ensembles is desirable, but not essential. Training and guidance will be provided as needed, to support the right candidate during their first year in the role, should they need to develop their ensemble conductor skills.

The music centre meets for 30 Saturdays per year (approximately 10 each term) and performs a range of concerts across the whole year, from Christmas, Easter and Summer showcases.

Interview Date: Saturday 12th September – 9.30am

Venue for Interview: St Aidan's C of E High School (Harrogate)
