About us

Matcham's is our in-house catering team here at Harrogate Convention Centre. We pride ourselves on quality produce and impeccable service and focus on supporting local suppliers and producers from the North of England, Yorkshire, and Harrogate. We cater to a variety of events and provide a range of services from a simple tea and coffee service to full-blown celebratory banquets. We are a friendly and driven team who put our customers at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on delivering a professional, high standard service.

The role

As a Catering Assistant at Harrogate Convention Centre, you will be part of a driven and ambitious team working in various aspects of the front‑line operation. You will be customer focused, working across various aspects of the operation, ensuring a high standard of customer service is upheld at all times. This role will include shift work so a flexible approach is required.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Basic preparation and serving of food, beverages and alcoholic drinks.
  • Ensure that sales opportunities are maximised by effective selling of all services (including ice cream, food and alcoholic beverages etc. as required).
  • Ensuring tables are cleared of glassware, crockery and cutlery and are cleaned ready for next use.
  • Ensure the effective setting up of rooms and equipment, moving furniture, preparing room layouts to the requirements of the customer.

What you will bring

We are seeking motivated individuals that can demonstrate adaptability to be able to work across various aspects of the front‑line operation. You will ideally:

  • Be able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have experience of working as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.
  • Be able to confidently handle sales and cash procedures.
