General Teaching Assistant (GTA) and Midday Supervisory Assistant (MSA) working in KS1 or KS2 (preferably with an Early Years Level 3 qualification).
Vacancy Hours:
- GTA – 26.25 hours per week.
- MSA – 5 hours per week.
- Monday – Friday 08:30 – 15:15 (with 30 minutes unpaid lunch).
- Additional hours in Breakfast Clubs available from 07:30.
Salary and Benefits:
- MSA: Grade AB (SCP 3) – 5 hours per week.
- Hourly Rate: £13.28.
- A range of benefits including pension.
The successful candidate will:
- Be passionate about caring for children and young people.
- Preferably meet the qualification requirements to be included in staff: child ratios at level 3 – hold a Level 3 Early Years qualification that is recognised by the Department for Education as full and relevant at the appropriate level.
- Have successfully completed the experience-based route.
- Have experience of working with children.
- Have knowledge of matters relating to safeguarding of children.
- Have the ability to display positive social skills and encourage good behaviour in pupils.
- Have the ability to establish constructive working relationships with pupils, parents / carers and colleagues.
- Have adequate verbal and written communication skills appropriate to communicate effectively with pupils, parents / carers and colleagues.
Job Purpose:
To work with teachers and other school employees to support teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direction of teaching staff, and may be responsible for some learning activities within the overall teaching plan. May work in the classroom or appropriate location within the school, with access to support and guidance as required. To provide support to pupils including promoting pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.
The role will include:
- Interacting with pupils in ways that support the development of their ability to think and learn, including careful questioning.
- Communicating effectively with all pupils, families, carers and other agencies.
- Helping support children with their personal, social and emotional development needs.
- Encouraging inclusive and positive play.
- Implementation of appropriate behaviour management and teaching and learning strategies.
Start Date: As soon as possible but no later than Monday, 7 September 2026.
