We are a small village Church of England primary school, just outside Bedale, with 118 happy children on roll. We are a strong team of committed and talented staff, led by strong governors, and with supportive, engaged families. Our school life revolves around our ‘Celebrate, Collaborate, Pollinate’ ethos.

Would you like to be part of a committed, dynamic team who are working hard to drive improvement and raise outcomes for the children in their community? Are you prepared to go the extra mile, to maintain the highest professional standards, and above all, to shape young lives? If you believe that teaching is a privilege, that every interaction is an opportunity to improve young people’s life chances, then we are the school for you.

Burneston CE Primary School is committed to giving our pupils the highest quality teaching, the most vibrant learning environments and a responsive and engaging curriculum, and you could be part of the team who will drive this vision forwards. We are looking for an enthusiastic, diligent teacher who is reflective, engaged with current research and pedagogy and above all a fire-lighter, not a bucket-filler. We are looking for an excellent practitioner, ideally with experience of core subject leadership, to join our team. We also have the capacity to support someone without experience of subject leadership to become an excellent subject leader!

The position is currently being advertised for 0.9FTE fixed term basis. This is an opportunity to work with our pupils in Years 4 and 5. You will be working within our excellent key-stage team to deliver this. The post is advertised up to M3; ECT and lower main-scale candidates are welcome to apply and will be appointed on their scale point if below M3.

If you are interested in this position, please send the completed application form to the office (or email at admin@burneston.n-yorks.sch.uk), for the attention of Suzy Smart. The deadline for applications is 9am Monday 8th June. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed, or if you would like to discuss the role, please contact the school office to speak to the Headteacher. We are shortlisting on Tuesday 9th June, and are expecting interviews to take place w/c 15th June.

Burneston CE VA Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a robust Child Protection Policy and all staff will receive training relevant to their role at induction and throughout employment at the school. This post is subject to an enhanced level DBS disclosure and medical clearance.

We are looking for:

  • Someone who can work well with other teachers in partnership to give the best possible education to every individual.
  • An exceptional classroom teacher with an excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum.
  • A teacher with high expectations of themselves and of children’s achievements, attainment and behaviour.
  • A hard-working person who is driven and adaptable to change.
  • Someone who will work with a genuine child-centred approach; a teacher who puts the children at the heart of all that they do.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • An innovative and inspirational teacher to both pupils and colleagues.
  • A teacher who will be able to lead the support staff working with all children.
  • A flexible team player who enjoys a collaborative approach to working and learning.
  • A teacher who is committed to raising standards and encouraging excellence.
  • A strong working understanding of safeguarding.
  • Someone who will nurture strong relationships with the children, parents and the community and also be able to communicate professionally with external agencies.
  • A fun and enthusiastic person who is ready to be part of something special and who displays and embodies our school mission statement and values.

If you feel this post is right for you, we can offer you:

  • A welcoming and supportive team.
  • An engaging and warm learning environment with children who love to learn.
  • Supportive families who work in partnership with the school.
  • A vibrant, happy school where you can thrive and enjoy coming to work every day.

Visits are warmly welcomed as we would love to have the opportunity to share our fabulous school with you. Please contact us with any questions or to arrange a visit via email: admin@burneston.n-yorks.sch.uk or call school on 01677 423 183.
